The Town of Rochester has dogs available for adoption. The cost of adopting is the license fee and charge for rabies vaccine; the latter is presently $5.00. Prospective owners are interviewed and a home inspection is undertaken. New York State also requires a spay/neuter deposit of $35.00. If the dog is spayed/neutered within 30 days, the money is refunded. Low-cost state issued spay/neuter vouchers are available or references for low cost spay/neuter organizations for adopted dogs.
