Town and Country Humane Society is a non-profit, no time limit shelter run entirely by volunteers serving eastern Nebraska and beyond. We are dedicated to providing a safe and caring living facility for pets in need until a loving home can be found, as well as helpful information for those wishing to re-home or adopt an animal.
1. Find Your Friend. Find and rescue your new best friend here or visit our shelter in Papillion, NE. We have new pets every week. If you don’t find the right friend for you today, check back again! 2. Apply. Your application will provide us with valuable information that will help us match you with a new friendship that is long and satisfying for you and your family. Please try to be as thorough and accurate as possible so we can process your application in the quickest manner. If you have any questions, please contact us. It usually takes about a week to process an application. 3. Home Visit. After your application has been reviewed, you will be contacted either by our office or a volunteer to arrange a home visit. Our volunteers will schedule your home visit at a time that is convenient for you. Take advantage of this time to discuss any concerns or questions you may have about welcoming your new pet. Most of our volunteers are knowledgeable in basic behavior, training, diet, medical needs and more. If they cannot answer a question, they will be sure to pass it on to someone who can. Town and Country’s primary goal is to make a match that will last the pet’s lifetime. 4. Finalize. When your home visit has been completed and approved, we will schedule a time to finalize your adoption (dog adoption Thurs-Sun from 1-4, cat adoption on Fri-Sat from 1-4). If you feel you cannot abide by our contract, we will gladly help you find other rescues that will better fit your needs. Your adoption kit will include the pet’s medical records (spay/neuter, vaccinations, testing, treatments, medications; etc.), a proper collar with a microchip or rabies identification, a leash (dogs), toys, a copy of the contract and a receipt for your donation.
