Three Paws Rescue was started to better help animals in local shelters. We work with other rescue groups and believe we are all together in the effort to help the cats and dogs in shelters. The name ‘Three Paws’ is a tribute to Sammy, a very important and special dog to those involved in this rescue who passed away on 6/28/2013 after years of fighting various types of cancer. Sammy lost a leg to bone cancer and was a tripod during the last year of his life. Sammy and Leah (a Siberian Husky who was his mother) were instrumental in helping a core individual of this rescue be the animal person he is today and this is a small way to remember Sammy’s 12.5 years of faithful companionship.
Step 1 - the Application - Fill out an adoption application. If you have a particular cat or dog you wish to adopt, please indicate their name on the application. If you don’t have a cat or dog in mind, no problem. Our wonderful match team will help you find the perfect companion. Step 2 - The Interview - Our adoption team will review the adoption application and reach out. If the application is approved, we will schedule a meet with you and the cat(s) or dog(s) of your choice. Step 3 - The Sleepover - If the meeting between you and the cat or dog goes well and you wish to proceed with the adoption. We will first jump in joy then we will figure out when you want the cat or dog to join you at your home. If you wish to take the cat or dog home from the meet, that is very possible and has happened before. If you need time to get all the supplies needed, that’s ok too. The foster will love to spend more time with the animal. Our adoption starts with a trial period where the cat or dog gets to stay with you and adjust to your environment and routine. We want to make sure you see the animal when they are comfortable around you and are their true self. You can make the adoption official at any time. In the past we have had adopters who knew the cat or dog was right for them the moment they locked eyes with each other. Others want the weekend or a week to make sure. Step 4 - The Paperwork - When you are ready to make the adoption official. We will send over the adoption agreement for you to review and sign. If there is an adoption fee, we will send you a link to where you can pay the adoption fee. Once the adoption is finalized. We will send you the medical records for the cat or dog as well as transfer the microchip ownership to you. Step 5 - Happily Ever After - We love pictures, videos, and updates. Please do keep us updated on how things are going with you and your new companion. Nothing makes us happier than seeing how happy the cat or dog is with you. Going on adventures and bringing smiles to your face. While it is not required to adopt, we love finding Instagram or Facebook Pages dedicated to your new cat or dog. Our volunteers work hard to respond to all adoption applications as soon as possible. If you have any questions regarding our adoption process, please e-mail us.
