The Old Dog Retreat, Inc - Homosassa Pet Shelter

The Old Dog Retreat, Inc

The Old Dog Retreat is a senior dog animal rescue/sanctuary licensed in the state of Florida. We are an approved 501(c)3 non profit rescue, we are registered with the Florida Dept of Agriculture and listed in the Florida “Gift Giver’s guide” so all donations are tax deductible. The mission behind The old dog retreat is to rescue the older (senior) dogs that are ending up in our county shelters. Here they will be care for and medically treated. Some of these older dogs will be adoptable but most come with medical issues that makes it hard to adopt them so they will live out their lives in our sanctuary. Most of these dogs come from loving homes and through no fault of their own, they find themselves in a county kill shelter. They do not last long in these environments. They go into depression very quickly, they are scared so they don’t socialize well with potential adopter’s. They also normally have high medical problems so most adopter’s are not willing to take on these expensive’s. Plus their life expectancies can be anywhere from a few months to only a couple of years. If you have ever looked into the eyes of an old dog in a county shelter? You will understand why we do what we do. Please help us, 100% of every donation goes directly to helping these old (senior) dogs. 100 percent, every single dime is spent on food, shelter and medical for these beautiful old dogs. Whether it’s a one time donation or a monthly subscription? You are helping to save these older dogs that need your support. “There’s no love, like an old love.”
