One hot summer day a dog stopped traffic in the middle of HWY 150. A girl stopped and picked her up and discovered she had been dumped, pregnant and ready to deliver. Out of that litter came a dog with one ear up and one ear down. They named her Haley. She wormed her way into her new families heart for fourteen years. Never leaving their side. Road trips to Florida and in between. Sleeping by her mom's side every night. In 2007 Haley was diagnosed with Cushings-Disease and a liver mass. They made every effort to save her, when surgery proved to be unsuccessful they made her life comfortable. Haley was given three months to live. She lived thirty-six. It was said the only thing that kept her going was the love she shared with her Mom. Haley went to the bridge in 2010. The Graves Family had been active in shelter work in Guildford County and decided to set up a private foundation. In 2012 they made it public and started their mission. One dog changed their life and in her memory they are changing the lives of other animals, who are standing in the crossroads waiting for someone to come along, open the door and tell them to get in, today starts your road trip to forever! Many of the animals finding their way to The Haley Graves Foundation have been on the code red list in shelters for various reasons or are owner surrenders. Since 2012, we have transferred and placed more than 3,000 animals into loving homes.
