The Darla Foundation (formerly Cause 4 Paws) was founded in 2004 by Linda Bober. Linda has been involved in the rescue community for well over 20 years. We are a 100% volunteer based organization that relies heavily on a network of foster homes to save the many animals that come through our doors. We are an all-breed, all-species rescue that deals with everything from dogs to horses, and everything in between….space permitting! Our mission at The Darla Foundation is to save as many animals as possible, take care of all of their medical and behavioral needs, and place them in their Forever Homes! We can only do this with the help of volunteers. Please click on the Volunteer tab for more information on the various ways you can help! From fostering to computer work, we have a place for you. We are huge advocates for Pit Bulls and spend a lot of time battling BSL, breed stereotypes and educating the public on both the positive side of Pit Bulls as well as the importance of spay/neutering your animals, dog fighting and more. Please click on Education for more information on these topics. We help those in need by providing resources available to help keep their pets and not surrender because of behavior, financial or the like. We do whatever possible to keep families together. We have humane investigators to help animals in need. We have been involved in high profile cases as well as small complaints. No animal in need is overlooked. We have been involved in criminal cases and changed legislation because of those cases. We have had a hand in changing the norm to help those animals abused. In 2007 one of the biggest and worst animal abuse cases of it's time in Illinois history broke. Police confiscated 37 dogs from a South Holland house where officers said they were trained to fight to the death. Linda Bober was the lead humane investigator on this case and due to her diligence was able to ensure the individual faced charges and jail time for his crimes. With the help of Curtis Scott, Linda and Curtis were able to assess the behaviors of the 37 dogs and saved 32. We are there for animals and do whatever we can do to make their lives better! With the continued help of volunteers, fosters & donors we can continue to help our dogs and our communities. Please help us help them!
