The Center For Animal Health & Welfare - Easton Pet Shelter

Formed in 1913, The Center for Animal Health and Welfare (formerly the Northampton County SPCA) is a private organization. We are not affiliated with any other SPCA or ASPCA. We are not a government agency, but are a non-profit organization with a 501c3 status. In 2003 we committed ourselves to saving lives and became a no-kill shelter. We are dedicated to providing a safe and healthy environment for animals. We have improved our foster program, increased adoptions and offer supportive programs to our community. Fund raising, donations and bequests make up 90% of our income and we apply for many grants. Adoption fees, relinquishment fees, memberships and agreements with some of the local municipalities, to take in their strays, generate the rest of our revenue. Although we greatly appreciate the help from the municipalities that do support us, not all do. Northampton County contributes about $5,000.

Adoption Process

You must be 18 years of age or older. If you are not the homeowner, you must provide the homeowners information for permission to have the pet. The adoption process starts with our Meet Your Match program. Please call 610-252-7722 ext 2 to answer a few questions. You must complete an adoption application which includes: the name of a reference--someone who does not live with you, but knows what a great caregiver you are; the name of recent pets and contact information for your veterinarian--to verify that your animals are up-to-date on vaccinations and care. To expedite the adoption process, bring along bring a copy of your records from your veterinarian to provide proof of vaccinations for all your resident animals. We require that everyone in the family meet your new furry friend. It is important that all members of the family are part of the process and will be happy with your choice. If you are adopting a cat, you must bring a carrier to transport the cat home. If you don't have one, you may purchase a carrier at the shelter for $15. If you are adopting a dog, you must bring a leash sized for your new pet. If you don't have one, you may purchase one at the shelter. Each dog is required to go home with a martingale collar for an additional $15 at the time of adoption. Home visits may be required for some animals. Dog meets are required if you have a dog(s) and are adopting another
