Texas Rustlers Guinea Pig Rescue is a non-profit, volunteer-run organization dedicated to the rescue and adoption of abandoned, neglected and abused guinea pigs, rabbits, and other small animals in the Dallas-Fort Worth, Texas, area and beyond. We offer a home for life to any animal that enters our organization when a suitable permanent home is unavailable. Our rescue provides advice, support, and when available, funds and/or supplies, to future and current guinea pig and rabbit owners so as to encourage a lifelong commitment to those animals. When this is not possible, the rescue will, when resources allow, assist in the placement of any guinea pig, rabbit, or other small animal into other suitable accommodation. The organization is also committed to ending the cycle of neglect and abuse by providing quality education and resources on proper guinea pig and rabbit care and by generating public awareness as to the root causes of the problem.
The following is a guideline of what to expect during the adoption process: An online adoption application is completed. We will respond to your application as soon as possible to ask any additional questions we may have and to schedule a visit. We strive to respond within a few days, but it may take up to a week or two as we are all volunteers with full-time jobs. Please have patience with us; we are happy that you are excited to bring piggies or bunnies into your home, we WILL reply to you. A visit is made by appointment to meet the animals, see the cages and to gain any education / advice needed. You may at this point select your animal(s). You go home to get prepared for your newcomers, assemble the cage, buy supplies, etc. You will come back the next Saturday to pick up your piggies and take them to their new home.
