TAPS is a shelter of hope for homeless animals. We provide temporary sanctuary and an opportunity for life by bringing companion animals and loving people together.
If you are interested in adopting a puppy, kitten, cat or dog from us, please fill out our on-line form. Our policy is to process applications in the order that they are received for in-shelter animals. Our small dogs, puppies and kittens are extremely popular. If you see an animal you are interested in, we encourage you to submit a no-obligation application to be listed for consideration. Applications for pets placed in foster homes are at the discretion of the foster home. They have welcomed our animals into their homes while they are awaiting adoption and understand the special needs of the animal they are fostering. We receive multiple e-mail inquiries daily. We do our best to respond to each e-mail within 48-72 hours. To receive the most accurate and up-to-date information on an animal and any pending applications, we recommend calling or visiting the shelter during business hours.

Adoption is a cornerstone of our practice. We at Rescued Heart have been rescuing animals and re-homing them since we opened in 2010. We have had many successful adoptions, and we strive to continue our rescue efforts in the community. Most of our adoptable animals have come to us by owner relinquishment or abandonment. Each animal has its own, unique story of how they have come to be in our care.

Tazewell County Animal Control picks up all pets running the streets (stray cats must be confined for pickup), as well as taking in any animal that walks through the door. Animals that are strays are held for five business days. Animals are then evaluated then put up for adoption or transferred to a rescue shelter. We are an open admission shelter and do not turn away any animal.
