Established in 2012, St. Cats & Dogs is a 501(c)(3) non-profit, all volunteer group with the goal to trap/neuter/return (TNR) as many feral and free-roaming cats as possible within the Scranton, Pennsylvania area. Working with the community, we strive to reduce cat overpopulation by trapping and transporting feral cats, having them spayed/neutered with the help of Eastern Pennsylvania Animal Alliance (EPAA), and returning these cats to their original locations where caregivers continue to provide food and shelter. In 2014, the City of Scranton leased to St. Cats the old Nay Aug Zoo building, which has given us a much-needed facility to continue our work. The building allows us to care for many cats, giving them room to play in the renovated large-animal stalls and meet-and-greet potential adopters. We are now able to have dogs fixed at the Zoo as well, hence adding to our original name.
Our adoption process proceeds as follows: 1. Please call 570-604-4008 to let us know which cat you are interested in adopting 2. Fill out an Adoption Application, which may be brought with you to the Zoo, emailed to stcatsanddogsscranton@gmail.com or mailed to: St. Cats c/o 1900 E. Gibson Street, Scranton, PA 18510. 3. Come meet the cat or kitten at our facility. 4. We will check your veterinary reference and make a visit to your home. 5. Once your cat or kitten is cleared for adoption, you may make a moderate donation (so we may continue our work!) and take your new kitty home!
