The Office of Animal Control within St. Bernard Parish Government is dedicated to the elimination of animal suffering, to protecting the people of this parish and their interests, and to providing care for hundreds of homeless and unwanted animals. We envision the day when all citizens, their property and neighborhoods will be safe from the dangers and nuisances of irresponsible pet ownership; when animals will not suffer because of human abuse, neglect or ignorance; and when, as a parish we can continue to move forward working together to win the war against pet overpopulation and abuse. Our mission is to protect the rights of people from dangers and nuisances caused by uncontrolled animals, to insure the legal protection of animals from mistreatment, to promote responsible pet ownership through education and spaying and neutering programs, and to provide a quality life adoption program.
