The focus of SNAP of Chickasaw County as it begins, is one of helping animals in crisis situations. This includes animals in abuse and neglect situations, as well as strays or animals who have been dumped. We work in collaboration with the city and county law enforcement to ensure the proper care and treatment of animals. There is a serious concern for the health and well being of animals this coming winter with the economic difficulties that are occurring. We are going to have to be very prepared for these crisis situations, as the forecast looks bleak. Most importantly, we must focus on education of the community. This includes responsible pet ownership through spaying and neutering, as well as the care of the animals.

Question by Heather (15 days ago): I am unable to work due to disability for 1 1/2 years and still waiting on disability program. I have a hard time with my 2 dogs recently fighting and biting each other. I am told they need neutered. I do not have any funds for this so have been looking for assistance with this. Do you offer this or know of places I can check with? Decorah waterloo and some other towns have programs but I am told they can't help me since not in their county. Hoping you may have advice on this. I am worried they could bite myself or another person if trying to break it up.
