We are an all volunteer, 501c3 non-profit rescue, who abides by the Doberman Pinscher Club of America's (DPCA) Rescue Code of Ethics. We are NOT a public shelter, but rather, a collection of small foster homes. We are located in the Lake Charles, Louisiana area. Our Mission is to rescue, rehabilitate, and re-home Dobermans in need. We want to ensure good quality, long-term, loving homes, and successful matches. We want to educate the public on Dobermans, as well as health issues affecting the breed, such as Dilated Cardiomyopathy (DCM), Hip Dysplasia, Wobbler's Syndrome (CVI), Hypothyroidism, Von Willebrand's Disease, etc.
Requirements for Adopting a Doberman from SWLA Doberman Rescue: You must have a safe and securely fenced yard. You must allow the dog to live inside the home, as part of the family. You must provide vet references to ensure all pets are current on vaccinations and all dogs are spayed/neutered. You must allow SWLADR to perform a home inspection to ensure home and fencing are safe and suitable for the dog. You must take part in a "meet & greet" with all current family members and animals present, in the city in which the dog is currently being fostered. You must give the dog back to SWLA Doberman Rescue if, for ANY reason, you can no longer care for the animal. Dobermans are placed according to each individual family situation to ensure a happy and successful outcome. All dogs are adopted out fully vetted. Each dog will be vaccinated, heartworm tested/treated, spayed/neutered, and micro-chipped.
