We are the original Southern California Golden Retriever Rescue. Our dogs are in foster homes, never kenneled, temperament tested, socialized and vetted prior to adoption. Our goal is to find the perfect home for each individual dog and each one has their own personal representative. Our mission is to find loving, lifetime homes for all Southern California Golden Retrievers in need, regardless of conditions or circumstances. We will always strive to heal the sick and injured, rehabilitate the neglected and abused, and nurture the aged and unwanted until we find the perfect family who will shower them with unconditional love. Our vision is to build a refuge - a sanctuary - to serve as a halfway house where each of our beloved Goldens can rest and recuperate, prior to being placed with a foster or permanent family and moving on in their new lives.
If you are interested in adopting one of our dogs, you will need to complete the online application. Please be aware that we only adopt to homes in the Southern California area. After your application is received and reviewed by our Placement team, a volunteer will be in touch with you to schedule an in-home interview. At the time of the interview, we request a minimum $25 donation. Southern California Golden Retriever Rescue works very hard to find the right home for each Golden in our care. It is a process that can vary from a few days to several months depending on the circumstances. Placements are made according to what will be best for the dog. The more flexible you are about the kind of dog you are willing to adopt, the less time the process may take. It is not a first-come-first-served basis, but rather which family is the best match for the dog. Each dog comes to us under unique circumstances and has individual needs that we strive to meet. In addition, each family also has individual circumstances which are taken into account when making a placement. If you are a family with children under the age of seven please consider the following: Because of our emphasis on safety, we are very careful about the Goldens we will place into families with young children. We reserve the right to decline applicants who cannot meet the needs of our second chance Goldens. We strive to find the best family match for each of our dogs in rescue based on their individual needs regardless of when the application process is completed. We have a lot more applicants than dogs, so not everyone who applies will be selected as a match for one of our dogs. Effective August 1, 2019 adoption fees will be modified to the following: $600 for puppies 8 weeks to dogs 2 years of age; $500 for dogs 2 to 7 years of age; $350 for dogs 7 to 10 years of age; $300 for our super seniors, ages 10 years and older. International dogs will incur higher adoption fees due to cost of transport: $1500 per dog under 7 years of age; $800 for dogs 7 years of age or older, or dogs with known long-term medical needs.
