Southern Animal Foundation - New Orleans Pet Shelter

Southern Animal Foundation

We are always searching for caring people to adopt cats and dogs. SAF is committed to providing our animals with a safe, secure, and comfortable environment until the right individual assumes responsibility as the permanent guardian. While every effort is made to match the right pet with the right home, there is always the possibility that you may feel the relationship is not working. In that case, we insist that the pet is returned to SAF.

Adoption Process

Our adoption process is very thorough. We believe matching the right person to the right pet is crucial - both for you and them! Call us at (504) 671-8235, or visit us on our website. Then, fill out an adoption application. Your application will be reviewed, and if the matchup between you and your new pet is socially and environmentally correct, the adoption process is completed and your pet can get settled in their new home. Please note, our adoption fee for cats is $100, and that covers the spay/neuter, FELV/FIV testing and 3 shots, and a microchip for the cat. The dog adoption fee is $200, which covers the spay/neuter, shots, heartworm test (or treatment) and microchip of the dog.
