Smiley Tails Rescue is a non-profit 501(c)(3) organization founded in 2019. We are passionate about ending the homeless animal problem in Southern California. We re-home dogs of all ages and breeds from high-kill shelters and high-risk situations. We have a strict screening process that involves thorough applications, interviews, and home checks. Smiley Tails is foster based, volunteer run and donor funded. All donations go towards spay/neuter, vaccinations, microchips, veterinary and surgical care and training. We offer appointment-based adoptions in addition to adoption events. Our vision is to "Clear the Shelters" until there is not one animal left without a home to call their own.
The first step to adopt a dog with us is by filling out an application on the website. An application screener will contact you for a brief interview. After the interview, we will send a volunteer to your home to conduct a home check, or require that you send photographs of your home and backyard. Most of our dogs are in foster homes all over the Los Angeles area, and we do our best to vet the dogs in our care before they are posted for adoption. We don't guarantee ages or temperaments of any dog that you adopt. We want all our adopters to have the best experience when adopting a dog with us. For that reason, if we feel that a dog you have selected in your application is not a good fit for you, you will be unable to meet that particular dog. We will try our best to match you up with a dog who is a better fit for you. The adoption fee covers spay/neuter, microchip, and vaccinations. We do not refund adoption fees for any reason, but if your rescued dog does not work out, you can request a donation receipt for your adoption fee.
