Sloppy Kisses Animal Rescue is a volunteer-based organization that was founded in 2018 by a group of animal advocates in Colorado. It was formed to rescue as many stray and homeless animals as possible by partnering with shelters in areas that are inundated with stray and relinquished animals. Sloppy Kisses Animal Rescue works to transport the animals to Colorado, fosters them in temporary homes, provides for their medical needs, brings them up to date on vaccinations, spay/neuters them if they aren’t already, and adopts them to permanent homes. This is accomplished through working with a network of volunteers, foster caregivers, local veterinarians, animal trainers, and donations! We also work with our local community to provide assistance with re-homing pets and providing resources such as behavioral and medial to people who are considering surrendering their pet in an effort to keep pets in their homes and out of the shelter system.
1. Fill out an online adoption application. Make sure you fill out all the information! We need at least 3 references and if you rent your landlord name and contact information. We will not set up meet and greets until you have submitted and application and it has been approved. Application Status: If an animal is no longer posted on our website it may just have lots of applications. If you application status changes to 'On Hold' then the animal has been adopted. 2. Application Review. We review applications as they are received, taking into consideration the best fit for the animal. If an animal has 10 or more applications we will remove it from our available pets list. If for some reason those applications don't work out it will be posted again. If you notice the status of your application changes to 'on hold' the animal you applied for has been adopted. 3. Application Approval. We check references, verify information on the application (if you provide false information your application will be tossed out), and confirm home ownership or permission from landlord. If approved, you will receive an email from us outlining the steps to set up a meet and greet with the animal's foster. 4. Set up a meet and greet with the foster. All of our adoption paperwork can be completed online so if you decide at the meet and greet you would like to adopt we will email you the paperwork to complete on your phone. Please read the adoption contract thoroughly before signing! 5. Adoption! Once the adoption contract is signed and the adoption fee is paid, you can take the pet home with you! All paperwork, vet records etc will be emailed out within 10 days of adoption.
