Our team is composed of volunteers whose passion for animals has always been a primary part of their lives. We have been rescuing, caring and finding good loving homes for dogs since 2003. With the help devoted people, our task has been made easier. The animals we rescue are fostered in our own homes where we can better care for them and give them the love and attention they need and, in many cases, they were never given. Our goal is to find the perfect "forever" loving family for each of them and the ideal companion for that family. Our pets are vetted, updated on shots, altered, heartworm tested and treated if they are positive, etc. before being adopted. In most cases, the dogs have had a dental cleaning and has been microchipped before being adopted. If the dogs have skin issues, eye problems etc., we take care of it before the adoption and give every bit of information we have about the dog to the adopter. At time of adoption, the adopter gets the dogs tags, vaccination certificate and vet record. In some cases, not all, the dog has had extensive blood work done. We work with their socialization, leash and potty training. We feed all our dogs with the highest quality and/or prescription food. They get the same attention, love, care and training our own animals receive. Our adoption fees are based on the vetting we pay for each animal and are NON-refundable. All moneys are used pay food, vet bills, heartworm preventative, flea protection, medication and surgeries. We are volunteers, so not renumerated for our work in transporting, treating, fostering and socializing the animals. We need your help to save and care for more dogs.
We require that all applicants complete our application form that we will process as soon as we receive it, along with your vet references. If you never owned a pet before, we ask that you provide us with a letter of reference that is not from a family member. The application is subject to our approval. Once completed, the application form can be emailed to: sdrapplications22@gmail.com. The application and adoption process can take a few hours to a few days, depending on how quickly we receive your application and on our availability. We recommend to do your research on the breed or mix that you would like to adopt before applying. Also, before starting the whole application process, reference check and home visit, talk together as a family to be sure everybody in the family is on board with adopting a new family member. It must be done BEFORE applying, not after we did all the work and then be told that the spouse, roommate, kids are not interested in having a dog in the house and participating to their care. Completing an application form is not a commitment to adopt a dog. If you application is approved, we will contact the applicant by phone or by email to set a time, place and a day to meet with the dog of your choice. If it's love at first sight, you can adopt the pet and take it home. All adoption fees are non-refundable, vary according to the age and breed of the dog and are applied 100% to the rescue, care, spay/neuter, food and everything related to their health. We do enforce our adoption contract. If things don't work out with your new pet, we do take our dogs back at any time during the lifetime of the dog. Our dogs are very important to us and we try to find the best home for each of them. This involves asking for vet references, pre-adoption home visits and signing an adoption contract.
