Second Chance Animal Rescue (SCAR) was established in February 2012 by an few employees of Animal Medical Center in Cairo, GA. These individuals saw a need in our community to try to re-home unwanted and abandoned dogs. SCAR is run by a group of volunteers that donate their time and energy to feeding, cleaning and looking after our rescues. Currently we pull dogs from high kill shelters around the area and give them a second chance at life. We also take in retired and unwanted breeder dogs. Roughly half the animals that go to shelters are destroyed. These animals are generally not homeless "street" animals but are puppies, kittens and healthy animals that could make deserving and loving companions.

I am seeking an older female companion, preferably a Shepherd mix, as I am 68 y.o. and too old to be scampering around with a puppy. I have a lot of fenced area in Pavo, in a 'country type setting'. I miss my elderly dog, Cheaha, who had to be put down due to complications of blunt force trauma 12 yrs before I rescued her. Her arthritis made her quality of life painful. I still miss her. I want another older large female dog who I can love and spoil. I have 2in door out door set ups, and 2 elderly male dogs, one old fat cat of 12, a parrot and both me and my boy-friend of 12 yrs are disabled and retired. Everybody sleeps inside at night because they want to. Please,-Please,fix me up with another shepherd female mix. I don't understand your 'star rating'. Phone is 229-859-2040, no text.
