Saving For a Storm was founded by Dani and Melanie Voorhees in 2019. One hot summer afternoon, a friend's pit bull named Storm was rushed to the vet hospital with heat stroke. The hospital told Storm's owner that she either had to pay for the life-saving services that night (which she could not afford), or Storm would have to traumatically pass away at home. In a panic, Storm's mom called us up and we were able to mitigate the situation. Despite the odds, Storm is as happy and healthy as ever! Since that day, we have heard of multiple instances where a dog in need has been denied life saving medical treatment due to financial means. We believe that no dog should be left to die because of their owner's inability to pay. Therefore, we created Saving For a Storm.
Here is how our adoption process works: 1. Make an appointment to meet them! Appointments for meet and greets can be made by emailing Savingforastorm@gmail.com. Meet and greets are a necessary step to ensure that it is a good match before applying. 2. Fill out an adoption application. These can be filled out at Zelda's Pet Grooming after your meet and greet. 3. Wait! We do not operate on a first come first serve basis. We continue to accept and review applications to ensure that we pick the best home possible! Please note that we reserve the right to deny an adoption if we feel the situation is not suitable. 4. If you have been approved for the adoption, we will contact you and let you know when you can take your pet home. They will come with a welcome packet including all medical records. You will need to provide a carrier, food, toys, and all other necessary supplies to care for your pet.
