SDRD is a state licensed 501(c)3 non-profit no kill dog rescue and group foster home located in Topeka, KS. It is our goal to network with other local rescues and shelters to save dogs that are at risk for being euthanized due to lack of space. We are committed to educating the public on responsible pet ownership, the importance of spaying and neutering, along with the dangers of purchasing a dog from a pet store or puppy mill.
The short adoption process begins with the submission of an adoption application, followed by an interview with our adoption coordinator. A meet and greet with the family and pets will be scheduled. Applicants are considered on a case by case basis, as some households are better equipped to handle certain types of dogs. We require all dogs and cats in the home to be spayed/neutered and up-to-date on vaccinations. If approved, the adopter fills out an adoption agreement and pays the adoption fee of $250. The adoption fee covers any medical treatments that were performed, vaccinations and microchip.
