Safe Cat Foundation - San Ramon Pet Shelter

Safe Cat Foundation was founded on the premise that all cats deserve to be saved. We do not use “standards” or “criteria” to determine if we will pull a cat from a shelter. We pull cats because they deserve to live, not because they are cute or young. Safe Cat Foundation will take the cats that other rescue groups pass on because they may determine these cats will not find a home or will take too long to be adopted or they have medical costs that would be prohibitive. We believe there is a home for every cat; we just need to give them a chance. One of Safe Cat Foundation missions is to take on serious medical conditions and aggressively seek treatment. Too many times we have seen cats surrendered to a shelter because a vet has given a cat a bad prognosis or diagnosis. We have seen many cats put down without any attempt to resolve their condition because of costs. Therefore many diseases are a mystery to the veterinarians because they are not given the opportunity to try to treat them. Safe Cat Foundation believes we are part of the medical community and will work with veterinarians to find new treatments. We believe that will more opportunities to treat a cat the more data they will have to be able to know what works and how to treat cats better, quicker and cheaper in the future. Safe Cat Foundation is made up entirely of volunteers. We have no facility, no overhead and no paid staff. All the money that comes in from adoptions and donations goes directly to the care of the animals. We also believe in education and have taken on the mission of educating all on the safety issues involved with our cats and the shelter system. Safe Cat Foundation does not take cats from the public. There are simply too many cats dying daily in shelters. We know the fate of these cats therefore we do not take in owner surrenders. We do offer advice and assistance for those wishing to find a place for their cat and are willing to do the work necessary.
