Our focus is rescuing dogs and adopting them to loving homes or transporting dogs in need to approved Rescues in upstate New York and Michigan. All of our dogs have been spayed/neutered; heartworm tested (if age appropriate); treated for fleas/ticks; microchipped; and examined by a veterinarian and given age appropriate vaccinations. We take every effort to ensure the health of the animal. Adopters will receive a copy of all veterinary work performed. Puppies will not be adopted out until they are over 12 weeks of age, once we are able to alter them. We do not have a shelter; all dogs live in foster homes so that we are best able to assess what type of home would be best for our foster dogs. Our goal is to ensure a good match between an adopter and foster dog, to ensure the dog has a home for life and won’t have to be moved again. Ruff to Rescue Express is a registerd 501c3. Our EIN# is 81-5458818. Donations are tax deductible.
Our process is a meeting in a public place for the first meet and greet of our foster dog. If that goes well, we then contact your vet (if you have existing animals) to confirm veterinary care and set up a home visit. We would then bring the foster dog to your home and ensure he/she gets on well with all that live in the home and that it is a safe environment for the dog. A home visit is required before any adoption can take place. We try to do all our adoptions just before family has day(s) off from work so that time can be spent together prior to the work week starting. Please understand we are all volunteers, so at times it may take a few days for someone to respond to your request/question. Some dogs will require a fenced in yard and some will not. If there are specific needs for the animal, they will be listed in the write-up or told to you. An adoption application must be filled out to arrange a meeting with one of our adoptable animals.
