Our Mission is: To support municipal animal shelters in transitioning Los Angeles into a no-kill City; To provide support and problem solving to Los Angeles pet owners in order to minimize the number of pets relinquished to shelters; To rescue abused, abandoned and unwanted animals and adopt them into loving permanent homes; to provide support to other animal rescue/ advocacy organizations in their efforts to save homeless animals. Ruff Patches empowers Los Angeles area pet owners to keep their pets and help stem the flow of animals entering the City and County shelter systems and nonprofit rescue organizations. Many issues can be remedied when pet owners have access to relevant information before obtaining a pet, access to additional education about pet care and to resources such as low cost spay/neuter, behaviorists, etc. Ruff Patches connects pet owners considering relinquishment of their pet to the resources they need to address their individual situation, with the goal of keeping the pet in its original home or, if necessary, finding a new appropriate placement.
1. See an animal you are in love with? Use the links below to apply! We'll contact you via email to discuss your application when we receive it. Please be sure to check your spam folder. 2. If you are a good match for the pet you are interested in, we'll arrange a meet and greet so you can get to know each other. 3. If you fall madly in love, we'll move to the home check phase! Don't worry! We don't care if you haven't done the dishes or vacuumed recently. We are looking for general safety issues, as well as any specific issues for the pet you want to bring home. If you applied for a dog, this is when we do the pet introductions. If you applied for a cat, the home check and adoption phase may take place at the same time. 4. If all goes well, it's adoption time! Whether you pick up the pet from us or we bring your new family member to you will vary based on the circumstances. NOTE: There may be more than one application per pet at a time. We process all adoption applications in the order we receive them, but we do not adopt animals out on a "first-come, first-serve" basis. We look over all the applications and choose the home we feel is best suited to that particular pet. Dog Adoption Fees - $150 Adult/$200 Puppies, Cat adoption Fees - $85 Adult/$125 Kittens. All of our animals have been seen by a vet, are spayed or neutered, have current shots, and are microchipped!
