Founded in 1870, the Rhode Island SPCA is the oldest nonprofit animal welfare organization in the state of Rhode Island and the third oldest in the country. We provide adoption and rehoming services, veterinary care, humane education, training support and pet owner assistance programs. The Rhode Island SPCA is also the only organization in the state that can legally investigate and prosecute cases of animal cruelty and neglect and takes an active role in legislative matters concerning the welfare of all animals in our state.
Dog Adoptions - The first step is to take a look at who’s waiting for you either at the shelter or online at Adoptable Dogs. If you find someone you like, you can fill out an adoption application. If you’re a good fit, an adoption counselor will contact you to see if you’d like to schedule a meet & greet. Because of the volume of applicants we sometimes receive, we are not always able to respond to all applicants. You are welcome to contact us anytime about the status of your application at adoption@rispca.com. Cat Adoptions - The first step is to take a look at who’s waiting for you at Adoptable Cats. We do not have online cat applications. If you are interested in a particular cat, please contact Cathy, our Cat Program Manager at cathy@rispca.com and a meet & greet can be scheduled. Once you arrive, our shelter staff will help make a good match.
