The Pope Memorial Frontier Animal Shelter continues to provide the same caring services to homeless cats and dogs in the Northeast Kingdom with a mission unchanged from its beginning in 1993: To improve the welfare of the animals of Orleans and Essex Counties by sheltering and caring for lost and unwanted animals, spaying and neutering, placing animals in humane environments, and implementing programs to provide services for the promotion of responsible pet ownership. Celebrating 20 Years!
Potential adopters must visit the animals and then complete an application form. Our application form can be downloaded. Please fill it out and bring it into the shelter, postal mail it to the shelter at: 4473 Barton Orleans Road, Orleans, VT 04860, or email it to animals@fasv.comcastbiz.net. (Online application forms are no longer available.) Then, if there is a pet that you would like as a member of your family, we recommend that you take 48 hours to give us a chance to go over your information, making sure that your chosen pet is a good match for you, and to give yourself a chance to seriously consider the adoption. We hope that adoptions will be permanent and families must remember that this often means a 12-14 year commitment to the care and loving of your chosen pet.
