Our Mission: To reduce pet overpopulation, particularly pit bulls, through spay/neuter intervention. Educating the public about responsible pet ownership through adoption as opposed to purchase. Pibbles & More Animal Rescue was started with the belief that no animal should die unwanted. After seeing the abundance of Pit bulls in shelters we decided to try to do something about it. We rescues dogs and cats, puppies and kittens, from high-kill shelters and dangerous situations and places them in loving homes. Many people are afraid of shelter animals, but in reality most animals abandoned in shelters have stable, affectionate temperaments and just need a family to thrive. We primarily place dogs with people who live in the tri-state and New England area including NY, NJ, PA, CT, NH, MA, ME, and VT. The process includes personal reference and veterinary check, including employment and landlord approval. As part of the process, we will be asking questions about your lifestyle, experience with dogs, and housing situation. It may feel invasive, but we have a lifetime commitment to our dogs and cats, and we need to be sure they are going to a home where they will be cared for all their life, so we screen our homes very carefully. We do perform a home visit for every adoption, even if you have adopted from PMAR before. If you are not comfortable with having a volunteer inside your home, please do not apply. There may be multiple applications for the pet you are interested in. Should that animal become unavailable we will let you know immediately and either help you find an alternative or discontinue your application if you wish. PLEASE NOTE: We take seriously the placement of the right pet in the right home. Should the animal you choose not be suitable for your lifestyle or situation, we will be happy to recommend appropriate options. While we try and satisfy all applicants, an application is not a confirmation that you will get the dog you originally wanted (we do recommend you list up to 4 choices). After your approval process and home visit, you will receive an email with the approval or denial of your application. If you have received the formal email stating that you are approved, we will work with you to secure the pet of your choice. Once you and the rescue have agreed on a specific animal, you will be asked to make a 50% NONREFUNDABLE deposit to hold the dog or cat of your choice. We cannot hold an animal for you until we receive the deposit; please don’t ask. (You are not required to make any deposit until you have chosen your dog and we have confirmed.). We will let you know when the animal is ready to go home (several states require specific vetting paperwork and we must make vet appointments accordingly). The balance of the adoption fee is due at the time you receive your pet and sign the adoption contract. We do charge an additional fee if you require your dog to be transported to you.
