Pet Rescue Alliance is a 501(c)3 non-profit organization specializing in the rescue, rehabilitation, and placement of homeless dogs. Our vision is a day when pets of all kinds can escape their previous lives of abuse or neglect and live in homes where they can provide their new family with unconditional love and be given the same in return. It is a grim fact that nearly 60% of dogs that enter shelters are euthanized. This statistic may be even higher in rural shelters. Therefore our primary focus is rescuing homeless pets from rural shelters who are often understaffed, underfunded and don’t have the resources to find homes for all the pets in their facility. Of course, we also help the pets in need at our local shelters and within the community. Pet Rescue Alliance is an alliance of individuals who not only love animals but also have compassion for other living creatures and are willing to help them get a new lease on life. Any amount of assistance you can provide, no matter how small, will make a world of difference to our organization and to the animals who depend on us to give them a second chance. A simple phone call to the shelter to find out which dogs will be getting put down soon or driving a pet from the shelter to the vet are just some of the ways people can help. An alliance is a sum of the individuals and this alliance to save the lives of homeless pets throughout the country will not succeed without your help. We humbly request anyone interested in helping our vision to fill out a volunteer, foster, or adoption form. We also welcome donations of any amount or even items such as bowls, food, towels, crates, or leashes. Thank you for visiting this site and we hope you share our vision.
1. Please be sure you can commit to adopting and caring for a pet before applying. This means researching the type of dog you would like to adopt and understanding their specific needs. This also means that everyone in your family should be ready to take on the financial, physical, and emotional responsibilities for caring for a new pet. 2. Once you identify a pet(s) that you are interested in, please submit an online application. We will review your application and ensure the pet you are interested in is in fact best suited for you and your family. We would love to get back to everyone who submits an application but since we are a volunteer-based organization and have limited resources, we can only respond to applicants that we are ready to move forward with to the next step of our adoption process. 3. Following a phone screening, if our application coordinators think you might be a good fit for the next steps, we will arrange for a meet and greet with the dog and their foster family. It is important for your entire family to meet with the dog at the time of the meet and greet. We view the pet as a part of your family and want to make sure all family members are on the same page! 4. Our adoption coordinators will follow up with you after the meet and greet to answer any questions you may have and to talk about next steps. Our next steps may include a final screening, virtual home visit or in-person home visit depending on the dog’s needs. 5. Following adoption approval, we will ask you to submit an adoption agreement and adoption fee prior to picking up your new furry family member! Medical records will be sent by our adoption team shortly thereafter. Once you have adopted a pet, your relationship with Pet Rescue Alliance is not over! We will always consider you a part of our alliance. We would love to get updates about your new family member, and provide any guidance or resources you need at any time.
