Pet MatchMaker Rescue aims to reduce the number of euthanized animals from Animal Control facilities. We also aim to reduce the number of stray animals in Kern county and hope to build a knowledgeable and understanding community. We aim to provide high quality care including, food, shelter, and medical services for these animals until they are adopted to a forever family.
Any applications submitted for a dog that is not yet available for adoption when the application is submitted will be discarded. We only process the applications for the dogs that are ready for adoption. Please do not apply if the dog is not listed as available on our website or PetFinder. Once you find one of our adoptable dogs that pulls at your heart strings, you will need to complete and submit the Adoption Application. Please tell us about yourself and your household so that we can do our best to ensure it is the right match. We will check your references and current vet. If you’ve been approved as an adopter, we will contact you to set up an appointment to meet the dog. You’ll be asked to sign an Adoption Contract and to pay the adoption fee prior to bringing the dog home with you. If the pet has not been spayed/neutered, you will also be required to sign a Spay/Neuter Contract. We will occasionally fly dogs if the home that is chosen is out of driving range and it is absolutely necessary, but transportation cost will be at the adopter’s expense. Adopters that can pick up directly will usually have priority. There is a two week trial period for every adoption. If you find within the two weeks that the dog doesn’t fit well into your home, he or she will be moved into foster care, and the adoption fee minus $100 will be refunded.
