PET FRIENDS AND RESCUE is a non-profit 501(c)(3) organization that benefits homeless companion animals of San Benito County. Our Mission is to eliminate cruelty and neglect of abandoned companion animals and to encourage a community atmosphere of education, care, and concern that will strengthen the human/animal bond. To accomplish this mission, PET FRIENDS AND RESCUE has established: The Pet Friends and Rescue Low Cost Spay and Neuter Clinic is designed to lower the cost of spay and neuter operations and, therefore, help reduce pet overpopulation, homelessness, and suffering; Assist in controlling and maintaining the county feral cat population by offering specially priced spay and neuter services at our clinic for ferals; Retrieval, fostering, and adoption of healthy companion animals into caring and loving homes; Pet Friends and Rescues' animal intake protocol is to rescue adoptable companion animals from Hollister Animal Control only and provide them with a permanent shelter environment while awaiting their new home; Provide relief for displaced animals during emergencies.
The first step is to choose an animal that you bond with. The adoption fee for a cat is $125.00. Any additional cats adopted simultaneously are $50.00 each.* All cats and kittens adopted are microchipped. The adoption fee for a dog is $250.00. Dogs adopted are microchipped. PET FRIENDS and RESCUE also offers a special adoption fee of $20 for any cat that is 5 years or older. Next step is to fill out an Adoption Application form. The feline or canine committee members will review the application and contact the landlord, if applicable. Once the adoption is approved, the next step is that you will be contacted, usually 1-2 days, that your application has been approved. Review the Adoption Agreement form read, sign and date. You will receive an Animal Health Care Record form and a copy of all the records in the animal’s file. If the animal is a dog, you will receive the Home Again paperwork and tag. The new owner will fill out the top information of the Home Again form. The final step is taking your new pet home! Remember, it can take up to four weeks for them to get used to their new home. Be patient and loving and soon you will have a wonderful new companion.
