Founded by Carol Leech and Jill Chandler in 2005 after years of helping the City of Fayette find owners and new homes for stray dogs and cats. PAWS provides medical care to dogs in the City Pound and fosters unclaimed pound dogs that are adoptable, providing them with medical care, vet services, and a safe haven until a good home is found. We provide transportation for owned pets, not just from the City of Fayette, but also for animals from Boonville, New Franklin, Armstrong, Glasgow and other communities that reach out to us for low cost vet services. When possible we assist other city animal shelters in finding homes for adoptable animals. In conjunction with the Feral Cat Ordinance, PAWS not only traps and transports stray cats for spay, neuter, and vaccination, but we absorb the costs for these services. PAWS offers educational programs fro schools, groups, and other organizations. We participate in local events in order to share our message of responsible pet ownership.
