Our small but dedicated cat rescue was founded over 15 years ago on the premise that we’d always work hard to find homes for ALL the cats we rescued regardless of their physical, medical or psychological disabilities. In the beginning we started helping cats that came our way by creating a small shelter and sanctuary where these cats could live and be cared for until a forever home could be found. We also established a network of foster homes. It didn’t take long for us to realize that due to the high number of so called “unadoptable” cats (many in other rescues) that some of these cats were subject to euthanasia because of space or financial issues. So, we began to focus on helping these cats in particular - the older cats, the very shy and timid cats and the cats with health or behavioral problems. We also took on cats with FIV. They needed a voice too! Over time we’ve found homes for hundreds of cats and kittens and as each year passes we continue to focus on saving these cats and focus on educating the public about cats with FIV and other health and behavioral conditions while working to find them a forever home with a responsible caretaker. Some cats who need special care, are elderly, or are unlikely to be adopted, live out their lives in our PFPF Sanctuary, affectionately called the “Kitty Kottage”. We go above and beyond when it comes to the medical and emotional care of our rescues and sanctuary residents. We underwrite all special testing, provide good quality food and treats and use eco-friendly litter. Prior to adoption, every cat is vaccinated (rabies & distemper), spayed/neutered, tested for feline leukemia (FeLV) and FIV, de-wormed and treated for fleas and ear mites, if necessary, and microchipped.
