We are a 501 (c)3 non-profit foster and facility-based rescue committed to saving our treasured friends from homelessness and high-kill shelters. With your support, we have rescued and re-homed more than 3,000 dogs.
The first step is to complete the adoption application in its entirety. It is our mission to match the world’s best dogs with the world’s best people. As such, we do not respond to incomplete applications. When we receive an application we will contact your vet, so be sure to let them know we will be reaching out. The next step will be to check your personal references. Once your application has been approved you will then be given the foster families contact information. Most of the dogs in our program reside in the northeast and are either with one of our local foster families or here at the Ruff House Retreat and Adoption Center. Our foster homes are skilled in assessing character traits and temperament. This allows us to understand who the dogs are thus ensuring a better match for you and your family. At your request, any dog can be tested with children and/or cats if possible. When a match is made, we make the arrangements to move the dog from his/her foster home to yours – his/her forever home. This is our favorite part of the job and is what inspires us to continue on with our mission. The adoption fees include spaying/neutering on dogs 6 months (often younger) or older, heartworm testing (If age appropriate), rabies and age appropriate vaccinations, health certificates, quarantine, microchip, dewormings and transport. Peace and Paws Rescue is a 501 (c)3 nonprofit rescue dedicated to placing abandoned and homeless pets into new and loving forever homes. We want every applicant to understand that this is a lifetime commitment to the animal and comes with enormous responsibilities and awesome rewards.
