PPA is a cat rescue organization that practices a Trap-Neuter-Return (TNR) process for feral and stray cats, and we spay/neuter over 500 cats per year in the Williamsburg/Toano/Hampton Roads area. PPA humanely traps feral cats, treats them for internal and external parasites, we have them vaccinated, and we have the cats neutered or spayed. Adoptable cats and kittens are fostered and socialized, and ferals are returned to their trap site after recuperating from spay/neutering. Studies have shown that TNR consistently reduces populations of feral cat colonies. Still, PPA is only one of several organizations in southeast Virginia helping to control feral pet populations and we cannot control cat populations by ourselves. We urge every pet owner to have their animals spayed or neutered, and please support your local pet rescue and wildlife groups.
Our adoption process is simple...You promise to love and care for the kitty for the rest of its life! Because our goal is a successful adoption, you must meet the cat or kitten prior to your application being approved. The application process takes 1-3 days; for faster service return your application by e-mail. Adoption application forms are also available at the Petsmart in Williamsburg; completed applications can be either turned in to the volunteer on duty or slipped under the door to the cat adoption area. Our adoption fee includes spaying/neutering, rabies and distemper vaccinations, microchipping - and our usual rate is 125 dollars per kitty. All cats are tested for feline leukemia and FIV. Please note that all adoptions are done by appointment only.
