Pet Adoption Alternative of Warren (PAAW) is a non-profit 501(C)(3) completely volunteer-run, foster-based animal rescue organization dedicated to finding loving homes for dogs & cats in need. We aim to be THE alternative in pet placement! We seek not only to help animals who have been lost or turned into our local shelters, but also to assist families in search of new homes for their pets due to lifestyle, living arrangement or other similar changes. Our hope is that by providing assistance to families who must give up their beloved pets, those pets will not end up being brought to a shelter at all, and can be placed directly with another family who will give them the love and affection that they deserve. We also hope that by working with families in need, we can educate people in our community about the importance of carefully screening potential adopters and avoiding “free to good home” ads when looking for a safe new home for your pet.
1. Adopters MUST be 18 years or older. 2. Meet our adoptable pets. Browse our adoptable pets online, visit us during one of our Pet Adoption Events, or watch for the latest pets on our Facebook page. If you would like, you may also contact us via email or call us 586-825-3350. The following is a list of what is required for Pet Adoption: Driver’s license (or State of Michigan ID card) with current address; Veterinary records for any current pets or pets owned in the last ten (10) years or provide vet’s phone number. All members of your household: PAAW prefers (and in some cases requires) that all members of the household meet and are comfortable with the pet. Any canine family members: PAAW prefers (and in some cases requires) dog-to-dog meetings between your current dog(s) and potential new canine family members. 3. Complete the Adoption Application Please allow an hour or more for the adoption process. Save time by completeing our online Adoption Application Form. 4. Meet with an Adoption Counselor. Our trained adoption counselors will meet with you to ensure the pet is a good fit for your home, family and lifestyle. This is a great time to ask any questions you may have. Then, you can spend time with the animal(s) you are interested in.
