Old Dominion Humane Society is here to provide well-matched permanent homes for animals in need through rescue, rehabilitation, and education.
We do urge everyone to submit an application online in advance as it does speed up the process and ensures the dog you are interested in is at the event. We typically have open adoption events every Wednesday from 5-7pm and every Saturday from 12-4pm. In addition, we sometimes have special events offsite (i.e. Petco, Dog Krazy) or adoption events on other days. Please allow a week for applications to process. We are run by volunteers who have full time jobs and families. Please fill out the application only once (even if you are applying for multiple dogs). It is NOT 1st come, 1st serve. We screen applications for the best home fit for the dog. Remember, we are here to serve the dogs, not you. If the dog is not listed available on our Petfinder page, this means the dog is not available for adoption and not currently accepting applications. If there is a dog that you know may be coming up for adoption soon, submit an application for "general adult" or "general puppy" to get the process going.
