Northwest Animal Companions is a 501(c)3 non-profit animal rescue located in the Portland Metro area of Oregon that is completely volunteer run. We rely on loving foster homes for our animals in rescue and donations to cover the needs of those animals. We host adoption events and fundraisers all over the Metro area all year long to make sure we have enough money to cover vet costs, and to collect supplies that help us care for the dogs and cats in rescue. Northwest Animal Companions of Oregon became a 501c3 in 2004 because a group of compassionate men and women pooled their resources for the benefit of all animals. They opened their homes and hearts to create an organization where the quality of life for animals could be the best possible. In its first year, NWAC had a positive impact on the lives of over 200 animals. Northwest Animal Companions’ purpose is to shelter and care for stray, abandoned, neglected, lost, abused and/or unwanted animals until permanent loving homes can be found for them; to provide these animals with food, veterinary care including spaying or neutering, grooming, medications and all other services necessary to properly maintain them and to facilitate placement into permanent new homes; to shelter and care for lost animals until such time as they can be re-united with their guardians; to care for animals whose guardians are temporarily unable to care for them; as in the event of a major illness, hospitalization or temporary homelessness.
Cat Adoptions: Step 1. We have two different applications: 1) If you are interested in Jessica’s Kittens please contact her directly or use instagram: @swiftiekittens. 2) For Cats found on Petfinder and all other NWAC cats apply here: Adoption Application. Step 2. Meet and Greet – We will get the potential adopter and the cat together either at an Adoption Event or in the Fosters home. We encourage you to bring everyone who lives in the home to this meet Step 3. Finalize the Adoption – We will finalize the adoption paperwork and you get to go home with your new furry friend. Dog Adoptions: Step 1. Fill out an Adoption Application – This can either be through Petfinder.com. Step 2. Meet and Greet – This can either be done at an Adoption event or one-on-one in a public location. This is an opportunity for the dog and the potential adopter to meet each other before moving forward. we also encourage you to bring any other dogs you have in the home to this meeting. Step 3. Home Check and Finalize the Adoption – We will bring the dog to your home to complete a home check. This consists of making sure the home is a safe place to have an animal. If you have a fenced backyard we will also be checking to make sure it is secure and safe. After making sure the home is safe we will be finalizing the last of the paperwork and leave your new furry friend with you.
