New York State Retriever Rescue, Inc are a devoted group of volunteers dedicated to finding homes for retrievers of all kinds. We opened up our hearts and homes to that most popular breed, the lab and during our journey opened our group to mixed breeds that exude that same wonderful retriever personality. We do not have building - we are just a core of individuals across Long Island from all sorts of life styles.
If you feel that a Rescued Retriever is what you and your family are looking for, NYSRR would love to help make that dream come. After you’ve viewed our adoptable dogs, you should fill out an adoption application on our website. If you need to have an adoption application sent to you please contact us at 516-828-1177, please leave a message and a volunteer will get back to you shortly. Once we have reviewed your application we will contact you to go over it and to set up a home visit. One of our volunteers will visit you at your home; possibly with the dog you are interested in adopting. We try our very best to place the right dog with the right family and their needs, i.e. other dogs, cats, children, etc. We strongly recommend that our adopters have a fenced yard to assure the safety of the dog. Some adoptions happen very quickly, within a few days, others take time. We will keep your application on file and when we get in new dogs we evaluate them and see if we have a family who is a good fit for them. The Adoption fee and donations go directly to the care and re-homing of all the rescued dogs. We could not do what we do without the generous help of these donations. All our dogs are evaluated, and then taken to our vets for a health exam. They are given all the needed shots, heartworm and fecal tests. If a dog is not spayed or neutered when we get them, we will have that taken care of as soon as we can. If, for whatever reason, something happens where you and your family can no longer care for your rescued dog, we ask that you contact us and we will take the dog back and find it another home. NYSRR reserves the right to refuse any adoption application.
