Mutts of Motown is a very small Detroit based rescue. Our goal is to save dogs and some cats who are in danger, abused, abandoned or neglected. Because we are so small due to lack of funding and foster homes, we work with many 501 c-3 non profit groups who often take in many of our Detroit rescues. Sometimes we provide care, spays, neuters, straw, dog houses and even dog food to those who need it and cannot afford it, or refuse to provide it for their pets. Because of the great numbers of animals being killed in our shelters nationwide we urge you to fix your pets and urge your government officials to change laws about backyard and basement breeding, as well as passing spay and neuter laws nationwide. We believe with these laws in place shelters wouldn't be needed in a few years. California has some of these laws in place now. We should follow this example and stop allowing our tax dollars to go towards the killing of unwanted animals.
