Murray County Humane Society is 100% volunteer, 501c3 non profit, and GA licensed rescue group based in rural north Georgia. We take in owner surrender animals and shelter animals that would otherwise be euthanized. These animals are provided with necessary healthcare and vetting prior to being placed with loving, qualified families. All of the fundraising, application reviewing, event planning, bathing and feeding along with transport of the animals in our care is done by volunteers who care about saving the lives of these animals. When opening their hearts isn't enough for some, they also open their homes to fostering those in need until they are adopted into their forever homes. Accomplishing our goal of saving homeless pets with healthy, safe environment until they are adopted into loving homes requires funding to pay for food and medical needs of these rescued animals. All donated funds go directly to covering food and supplies, vet expenses and medical supplies, cleaning supplies and other overhead costs (utilities, webpage hosting, and printing of forms). Murray County Humane Society relies solely on donations and fundraising. We do not receive any government funding.
You will fill out adoption application (not all applications will be approved and we hope you understand we keep the animal's best interest in mind). We will check vet and personal references. Will schedule a time for you to meet pet at our foster facility (may be asked to bring your current pet to meet potential new pet). We will do home inspection (prefer all family members to be home at time of inspection). Once adoption fee is paid and adoption contract is signed, you will take home your new pet.
