Animal Control is responsible for any complaints concerning dogs and cats, from picking up strays, to dog bites, abuse, injured animals, etc. Animal Control also runs the Animal Shelter for the County. The Animal Shelter takes all dogs and cats from Morgan County at no charge (nothing is taken in from Decatur City). The Shelter has an Adoption area, with very nice pets for Adoption. There is also a kitten play room that has been furnished with climbing stands and plenty of toys.
The adoption fee for any animal 3 months and younger is $20.00 and for any animal over 3 months is $40.00 and includes a Rabies Shot. Also, the adoptee must sign a contract to Spay or neuter the animal being adopted.
