Serving eastern central New York for over 100 years, the MCSPCA cares for unwanted, abused, abandoned or neglected animals. While we provide sanctuary for companion animals unable to speak for themselves, our work goes far beyond simply housing, feeding and loving these creatures. Our programs and services include a low-cost feline spay and neuter program, a foster-care network, animal legislation advocacy, education, and much more. Founded in 1904, the MCSPCA continues a long tradition of dedication to the welfare of the homeless, neglected, abandoned and abused animals in the Montgomery County, New York. The MCSPCA is an independent not-for-profit organization dependent on donations and nominal fees to provide quality care for hundreds of animals each year and to maintain its Animal Shelter. Our ultimate goal is to find loving, caring, forever homes for the animals in our care. We invite you to join us in our work and our quest. Perhaps you can volunteer some spare time, or are lucky enough to be in a position to contribute some cash. Maybe you have items you no longer need or use for ewhich our animals would be grateful. Or, maybe you can add a couple of extra items to your regular shopping list. No contribution is too small, and we can promise you that no one will appreciate it more.
At the Montgomery County SPCA, we are dedicated to finding responsible, forever homes for all the pets in our care. To that end, we have created a thorough adoption process which helps us achieve this goal. This process includes a check of veterinary history records on any pets you currently have, and a home visit. If you rent your home, we require written proof (letter or lease) from your landlord that you are allowed to have pets. We undertake this kind of thorough review to ensure that animals who have already been discarded at least once will never have to experience this again.
