The shelter accepts animals from anywhere in Monroe County without charge; a $25 charge applies to out-of-county animals, which are accepted only if space is available. Because the shelter is usually at capacity, it is best to call ahead before bringing animals, if possible. Only in emergencies should an animal be left after-hours, and then information -- its name, age, temperament, vaccinations, etc. or location where found - should be furnished. The Monroe County Animal Shelter staff attempts to return lost pets to their owners, so anyone who has lost or found a pet should contact the shelter immediately. Our goal is to find homes for as many abandoned animals as possible, but our resources are limited. We accept monetary contribution or donated supplies. (For current needs, please contact the shelter). The cooperation of the public is greatly appreciated, and visitors to the shelter are welcome!
Potential adopters are required to submit an application, which may be obtained at the shelter or by e-mailing dogsrus@frontiernet.net. Adoption fee - $75.00.
