Mitten Mutts Dog Rescue is dedicated to helping dogs that are most at risk of not being adopted in high kill and over-crowded shelters. When a dog is able to get out of the shelter into a home, we are better able to see the dog’s wonderful personalities, work on their specific needs, and find the perfect forever home. In an effort to cut down on the homeless pet population, we educate and assist the public on spaying and neutering. We are run 100% by volunteers. Our mission is to provide love, care, training, and homes to dogs at risk in high kill and over-crowded shelters.
Watch the Mitten Mutts Facebook page or website to see available dogs that we post. Choose a pet and fill out our adoption application. Once you fill out the Adoption Application (link above), our volunteers will check your references, review your application, and respond to your adoption application within a week. (We are all volunteers here at Mitten Mutts so please be patient with us!). If your application seems like a good fit, we will schedule a home visit. Please note that most of our dogs receive multiple applications so submitting an application does not guarantee you will get the pet. After the home visit, we will schedule a meet and greet. If the meet and greet goes well, you will pay the adoption fee for your MItten Mutt via check, PayPal, or Venmo and sign a contract. For dogs who are 6 months old or younger - Fee is $250. For dogs between 7 months and 6 years of age - Fee is $200. For dogs 7 years or older - Fee is $150. The dog will then be in a trial period with you. If after a few days, things are still going well, you will let us know. At that time, we will deposit the adoption fee. We will also sign and send you a copy of the contract and transfer your dog's microchip to you. CONGRATS! You officially have your new best friend!!
