Mit Liebe, meaning "with love" in German, was founded in 1998 by Anita Delzer in Suamico, WI. "We will save one, until there are none," was her motto and she worked tirelessly to save hundreds of German Shepherds in need until her passing in August of 2019. She had a special affinity for the German Shepherd breed. Her legacy lives on today as her pack of volunteers and her loving family continue to help a breed of dog with intelligence, loyalty, devotion, and honor. MLGSDR is a 501c3, non profit organization with a mission is to educate, rescue, rehabilitate, and rehome abused, neglected, or unwanted German Shepherds in need. Our goal is to give as many dogs a second chance as we can, and we do so by providing housing, vetting, and ongoing support to ensure successful dog/owner relationships. As a volunteer organization based in Suamico, WI, MLGSDR primarily rescues GSDs in the Midwest. We rely solely on donations and fundraising to provide the means necessary to care for the dogs we rescue. Foster homes are a key component of our organization and are always needed. We also appreciate volunteers and offer a variety of ways to get involved and help MLGSDR and our mission to rescue GSDs.
1. Choose a GSD from our AVAILABLE GSDs. 2. Fill out an Adoption Application. 3. References will be checked by our volunteer processing your application. 4. A home check will be set up by one of our volunteers. 5. After you've been approved to adopt you can set up a Meet-n-Greet with the dog you are interested in adopting. 6. If all goes well, you can work though the Foster Home to finalize the adoption. 7. All adopters are required to complete a basic obedience training class after adopting. MLGSDR offers classes to adopters (for a fee), or you can choose to use a training resource of your own, but it is required and if not followed through, gives MLGSDR the right to repossess the dog, as stated in the adoption contract.
