Adoption Process

Sometimes, people ask why we don't give animals away if we genuinely want to find them homes. Our adoption fee serves two purposes. First, it helps to defray some of the costs of operating the shelter. Adoption fees recover about 1/3 of our expenses to care for our animals. We do not receive any funding from local, state or federal government agencies. We also do not receive funding from any national welfare organizations. Second, we want to place animals in homes with adopters who are able and willing to pay the average expense incurred in owning a pet. Our adoption fee is approximately equal to the cost of an annual exam and vaccinations for a healthy pet. Owning a pet is a lifetime financial commitment. Dog/Puppy Adoptions Include: Initial DHLPP vaccination; Bordatella vaccination; Rabies vaccination; Parvo test (dogs under 5 months); Deworming; Spay / Neuter; Microchip and Registration; Heartworm test (dogs over 6 months old); Collar / Leash / ID Tag; Toys, treats, and bag of food. Adoption Fees: $175 Adult Dogs (4 months & older), $200 Puppies (under 4 months). Cat/Kitten: Adoptions Include: Initial FVRCP vaccination; Rabies vaccination; Deworming; Spay / Neuter; Microchip and Registration; FIV / Leukemia test; Cardboard Carrier; Toys, treats, and bag of food. Adoption Fees: $50 Adult Cats (4 months & older), $100 Kittens (under 4 months).
