Mercy's Door Pet Rescue, Inc. saves lives of neglected, stray, abandoned ,and abused dogs through the generosity of individuals that want to help make a difference. We are a registered 501(c)3 non profit, charitable organization primarily serving dogs in shelters in Ohio. We strive to be a voice for the voiceless and showcase that no matter the breed, each dog deserves the chance to be loved. We rescue, rehabilitate and, when they’re ready, find them a forever home.
The first step in the adoption process is to complete an adoption application for the dog(s) you are interested in. Each application that comes in is processed by our dedicated volunteers. We take placing our dogs very seriously, so we ask that you are patient with us and give us up to a week to get back to you. If your application is not approved, we will let you know as soon as that decision is made. If your application is approved, we will be in touch with you to set up a home check (required) and meetings with the dog and your family. All of our dogs stay in loving foster homes until they are adopted. Because we do not have a public shelter facility, you must first be approved to have a meet and greet set up. To become approved, start by filling out the adoption application. You are also welcome to meet any of the adoptable dogs at our public adoption events, though not every dog will be at every event, so depending on who you are interested in, the better option is to start by filling out an application. The adoption donation for puppies six months and under is $250. The adoption donation for dogs six months and older is $200. The adoption donation for dogs eight years and older is $100. All puppies/dogs adopted from Mercy's Door Pet Rescue are spayed or neutered, heartworm tested (if old enough), up to date on age appropriate vaccines, treated for any illnesses or injuries, and ready for love. All dogs adopted also come with a Freedom No Pull Harness & Leash set. Please know that your adoption donation goes towards the care that was put into the dog, allowing us to prepare for the next dog in need. By saving a life, you help us save another! We take pride in preparing our dogs for adoption and have a wonderful group of foster parents to help us with that. We take the time to get to know them as best as we can, their likes and dislikes, and what kind of home would best suit them. We hope you find what you're looking for!
