We are a private 501c3 nonprofit shelter/rescue formed in 2001 by a small group of local people concerned about animal welfare in Bamberg County, South Carolina, and beyond. M.A.M.A.S. is dedicated to ensuring the humane treatment of animals. We are a No-Kill facility that depends mostly on donations to care and find homes for those in our charge. Only one of the five towns within our county has an animal control officer and with our limited resources, we are unable to pick up animals so the ones we have are brought to us by people who find strays or owners who give them up. Bamberg County Council supplies a very small percentage of our funding so we are dependent upon donations from friends of the shelter and the general public. After an approval process, M.A.M.A.S. dogs can be sent to loving homes and rescues in SC, NC, VA, MD, PA, DE, NJ, NY, VT, NH, and ME, via M.A.M.A.S. on the Move Transport. We cannot send dogs to adopters in CT, MA, or RI, but can send to approved rescues in these states. Our dogs are healthy, socialized, and all out of state dogs travel with a veterinary health certificate which states they are free of contagious disease.
Steps to Adoption: Select a dog or become pre-approved before actually selecting a dog; Complete and return application; If application meets our base requirements, next is a phone interview; Last is the home visit
