Madison Cat Project (formerly Dane County Friends of Ferals) is an Adoption Guarantee organization which has been working in the community to find homes for cats who might otherwise be euthanized at other shelters whether due to behavioral, medical or other issues since 2001. Madison Cat Project commits to each cat that comes through our doors to give them the care and time they require to be ready to go home. We utilize an intricate foster network to provide ample time for socialization and medical recovery. Because not every cat is able to overcome under-socialization, we also work with community members to place cats in rural homes for rodent control and other benefits. Other programs offered include a high volume spay/neuter clinic once a month and spay/neuter surgery at our shelter. We also offer community education opportunities and consulting services.
If you are interested in adopting a cat, please fill out and submit an Adoption Questionnaire via our website! Your application will be reviewed, and you will hear back from our Adoptions Coordinator as soon as possible. From here, we will do our best to find a cat who matches what you are looking for! Many of our available cats are in foster homes, so you might be connected with their foster parent to arrange either an in-person meeting or a virtual meeting depending on what everyone is comfortable with. After you meet the cat (in person or virtually) and decide he/she is the one for you, our Adoptions Coordinator will go over the appropriate paperwork with you and then you can schedule a pickup for your new furry family member! The adoption fee is due before taking the cat home and that can be made online via our website, check, or exact cash! Madison Cat Project will accept returns after the adoption is finalized as well, and we’re always here as a resource at any time in the process, even years from now. Questions? Contact us.
