Love of Collies and Shelties Rescue of SEVA is the result of a merger between the Love of Collies and Shelties Rescue Inc. and the Collie and Sheltie Rescue Association of Southeast Virginia. Karen Joos was asked if she would come back and run the original rescue due to a declining donor and volunteer base amid rumors that the group was shutting down. She and her husband, along with Jessica and Walter LaBrie, agreed to join the two rescues which resulted in the current rescue LOVE OF COLLIES AND SHELTIES RESCUE OF SEVA. The rescue continued with a new name while keeping with the original EIN number. After a year of organizing records, getting insurance, and rewriting by-laws, policies, and procedures along with taking in and rehoming 14 dogs it was decided that more help was needed. In 2019, Karen put out a call for support and it was heard loud and clear. The current board has worked diligently to organize the rescue by developing and filling specific board roles, shaking out its list of volunteers and fosters, and planning for the future of the group. We’ve upgraded our website, taken advantage of collaborative tools for non-profit organizations, and again revamped policies and procedures. We are here for the long run and we are helping dogs every day.
1. Fill out our online application. 2. Contact your veterinarian groomer, and give them permission to speak with us concerning your pets vaccination record. 3. A volunteer from the rescue will complete a veterinarian check to confirm that your current animals are up to date on all of their vaccinations. 4. Next, one of our volunteers will contact you to set up a home visit . Please don’t change a thing as we are really just interested in meeting your family and your other pets if there are any. 5. Within a week you can expect to hear from the rescue concerning the adoption. 6. Please know that we will work diligently to find the right dog for your family and the right family for the collie or sheltie.
